Instagram page The Shade Borough asked their over 427K followers to tag black owned businesses on June 7 and were met with a huge response. They then started uploading posts dedicated to shouting out UK black owned businesses these ranged from hair services to fashion lines.
After receiving over 14K comments on black owned businesses they decided to set up an online directory of black businesses called My Black Index. The Shadeborough said, ' Our ultimate goal is to raise awareness of the importance of investing into our communities, with the aim to increase our economic empowerment'.
