Thousands gathered in Trafalgar Square in London yesterday for a Black Lives Matter protest in alliance with the those protesting in the US.
George Floyd's untimely death has gained international resonance for highlighting the systemic injustices faced by black people from those who are supposed to protect them. The traumatic footage capturing his murder has circulated the internet and has further awoken everyone to the undeniable reality that black people are still facing in 2020.
The horrific footage and unjust prosecution of the officers involved have sparked protests across the US and the UK; they were not going to stand by and stay silent about this.
Across social media you can see numerous peaceful protests have been organised to happen from the start of the month in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Cardiff and Glasgow.
