PRS Foundation Announce Round Two Of The Power Up Participant Programme

Power Up is an initiative thats was set up by the PRS Foundation in partnership with YouTube Music, Beggars Group, Spotify and the Black Music Coalition in 2021. It not only supports Black music creators, industry professionals and executives but also addresses the anti-Black racism and racial disparities in the music sector.


Through the Power Up Participant Programme and Power Up Movement they aim to do the create the following:

  • A fairer, more equitable music industry for Black creators and industry professionals

  • Better representation in all sectors of the UK music industry

  • To support innovative and exciting Black talent to create exceptional new music in all genres and at all career levels

  • To amplify the work of Black creators and industry professionals to accelerate change

Their Power Up Participant Programme elevates Black music creators, industry professionals and executives, creating long-term networks across the UK. Each programme consists of:

  • 20 x Black music creators artists, songwriters, composers and producers who are involved in the creative process and may be working in any genre, based anywhere in the UK

  • 20 x Black executives and industry professionals industry professionals working in any sector of the music industry, anywhere in the UK. This includes employees and entrepreneurs, freelancers and self-employed professionals


Successful participants receive a grant of up to £15,000, mentoring, marketing support and more. Round 2 of the Power Up Participant Programme has just been announced with its application deadline being 6pm on Thursday 17th February 2022.
