American comedian Dave Chappelle most well known for his comedy sketch series Chappelle’s Show and appearing in movies Robin Hood, The Nutty Professor and A Star Is Born, latest Netflix special has sparked a transgender backlash.
His hour long Netflix special received backlash for its comments about the LGBT+ community and left people wanting Chappelle “cancelled."
Chappelle posted on Instagram that he would be willing to meet and discuss with members of the transgender community about his show, amid criticism his comedy show was transphobic but added that he is “not bending to anybody’s demands”.
This comes after a small protest took place last week outside the Netflix headquarters in Los Angeles against Chappelle's special, The Closer, in which he asserts that "gender is a fact”.
